Kathua, February 19, 2025 — The District administration has revised and increased the stamp duty rates for four villages in Marheen Tehsil. The new rates apply to the villages of Bann, Sehwan, Thath, and Balahar. The previous rates, which were effective from January, were lower.
According to the notification issued by the District Commissioner, land buyers in the Bann area will now have to pay a stamp duty of ₹5.01 lakhs per Kanal for irrigated land and ₹3.45 lakhs for unirrigated land. Previously, the rates were ₹4.60 lakhs for irrigated land and ₹3.17 lakhs for unirrigated land. For residential and commercial land, the new rates are ₹12.14 lakhs and ₹13.37 lakhs, respectively, compared to the previous rates of ₹11.15 lakhs and ₹12.27 lakhs.
In Thath, the new rates are ₹2.87 lakhs for irrigated land, ₹2.61 lakhs for unirrigated land, ₹4.43 lakhs for residential land, and ₹4.87 lakhs for commercial land. Previously, the rates were ₹2.64 lakhs, ₹2.39 lakhs, ₹4.07 lakhs, and ₹4.47 lakhs, respectively. In Sehwan, the new rates are ₹5.01 lakhs for irrigated land, ₹4.28 lakhs for unirrigated land, ₹11.95 lakhs for residential land, and ₹13.13 lakhs for commercial land. The previous rates were ₹4.60 lakhs, ₹3.93 lakhs, ₹10.97 lakhs, and ₹12.06 lakhs, respectively.
Similarly, in Balahar village, the stamp duty for irrigated land has been increased from ₹4.39 lakhs to ₹4.79 lakhs, for unirrigated land from ₹3.26 lakhs to ₹3.55 lakhs, for residential land from ₹6.98 lakhs to ₹7.60 lakhs, and for commercial land from ₹7.68 lakhs to ₹8.36 lakhs per Kanal.
