NSS Units GDC Kathua organized a pledge on the eve of National Constitution Day in which Principal of the college Prof. Seema Mir and senior faculty members Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma, Dr Dinesh Jasrotia, Dr Shiwani Kotwal, Dr Upasana Andotra,Dr Amreek Singh, Dr Kaurab Singh, Dr Kamaldeep Singh and more than 100 volunteers of NSS participated. The pledge was read out by NSS volunteer Ms. Nikita Sharma in which she orated the preamble of constitution. This program was aimed towards dissemination and awareness generation of Citizen’s Fundamental Duties, which are provided under the Constitution of India. Such a program shall help attain the objective of instilling the realization in rural citizens on their right to duties. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Seeem Mir Principal Gdc Kathua addressed volunteers that National Constitution Day is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. She said that on this day, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950. She further added that Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015 notified the decision of Government of India to celebrate the 26th day of November every year as 'Constitution Day' to promote constitution values among citizens. This day is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to honor and pay tribute to the invaluable contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar founding father of the Constitution. The whole event was organized under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and under the supervision of NSS program officers Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Neha Bandral and Dr. Kulbir Singh.
