Kathua: ACB organises Vigilance Awareness Programme to mark Day of Resolution for freedom from corruption  
 
Kathua, August 05: Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau organised a sensitization session on functioning of ACB besides giving insight on various provisions of Anti-Corruption Law/Prevention of Corruption Act here at Conference hall of DC office complex.
 
The session was presided over by ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh wherein DC State Taxes (Enforcement) Kathua Ranjeet Singh, CPO Kathua, ACD Kathua and other district and sectoral officers were also present.  
 
At the outset, Dy. S.P ACB, Deedar Singh gave powerpoint presentations on the menace of corruption, its evil impact on society and how it can be eradicated from society. He also talked about the functioning of the Anti Corruption Bureau and the process of lodging complaints besides educating participants about the perils of corruption. He further stressed on the need of reporting the corruption incidents and becoming whistleblowers through the online mobile app “SatarkNagrik “and DVO portal.
 
The team from ACB also apprised the participants about the significance of observing the day dedicated to generate awareness about the ways to tackle corruption and measures needed to adopt at all levels to curb the menace. The session ended with the resolve that widespread corruption cannot be rooted out just by few hundred people sitting in the ACB but each and every citizen of the country must contribute towards building a TEAM India where T stands for technology and transparency, E stands for efficiency and empowerment, A stands for audit, Trial and accountability, M for metrics measurement and mutual cooperation.
 
ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh in his address stressed on the role of education in inculcating moral and ethical values of integrity. He further added that the Government has taken various initiatives to ensure transparency and accountability in the governing set up.  He appreciated the efforts of ACB in organizing such an event which will help in achieving the goal of Corruption free society.
 
Pertinently, the Government of UT of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to celebrate ‘Day of Resolution for Freedom from Corruption’ on 5th august every year wherein all government employees shall take an oath for eradication from public life and offices. The week following 5th of August 2023 shall be celebrated as Vigilance Awareness Week by conducting seminars and workshops on initiatives undertaken by various offices/officers/institutions with regard to eradicating corruption and increasing public accountability and service delivery.
