Unity' NSS Units GDC Kathua organize an introductory lecture on life and contributions of Sh. Girdhari Lal Dogra

As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Campaign under the theme 'Unity' NSS Units GDC Kathua organize an introductory lecture on life and contributions of Sh. Girdhari Lal Dogra, in order to highlight his contributions to national freedom struggle.
 The aim of organising this lecture was highlighting the substantial contribution to national freedom struggle by the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.The lecture was delivered by NSS program officer Dr. Suresh Sharma in which he apprised volunteers about the education, political career and contributions of Sh. Girdhari Lal Dogra. He said that Sh. Girdhari Lal Dogra came into political life with an inspiration of patriotism. He had cordial relations with people and political personalities at his time. He continuously remained the state's finance minister for over two decades and a Member of Parliament from Udhampur-Doda and Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituencies. He raised the voice of common people and worked day and night for the welfare of farmers. He was an epitome of simplicity and dedication, stood for secular values throughout his life. He served the people of the state for a long time in a various capacities and always worked for poor and downtrodden sections of society.  The veteran Congress leader was also the father-in-law of Arun Jaitley. He never lost an election and presented 26 budgets as the then finance minister, indicated his acceptability in politics; and expertise and dedication to the task at hand. He was a man of high integrity. He also groomed many political leaders. He was a freedom fighter who later became a prominent political figure in the state. He said that Present day politicians need to get inspiration from this proud son of Jammu and Kashmir. The event ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Manmohan Singh.The whole event was organised under the patronage of Principal of college Prof. Seema Mir and under the supervision of NSS program officers Prof. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Suresh Sharma and Dr. Neha Bandral.
