Kathua, July 04: The State Taxes Department Kathua today organised a Bike Rally on Day-3 of GST week celebrations to mark the 6th anniversary of implementation of GST in the country here at State Taxes Office, Circle Kathua -I and Circle Kathua- II. Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas who was the chief guest flagged off the rally wherein Superintendent of Police Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes (Enforcement) Kathua Ranjeet Singh were also present.While appreciating the efforts of the department in implementation of GST, Deputy Commissioner Kathua appealed the traders, businesses and other stakeholders to seek GST registration which will help them in increasing the scale of Business in regulated way. He also appealed the general public to demand bills on every purchase as it will help in increasing the revenue of the government paving the way for economic growth and development of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir as well as of the country.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes (Enforcement) Kathua Ranjeet Singh informed that GST Week is being celebrated all over the Union Territory to commemorate the introduction of revolutionary GST in J&K in 2017. He further informed that GST revenue has risen from 51 crores in the year 2017 to 227 crores in the year 2023. State Taxes Department under the banner “Kar-Tavya, Kar Yogdaan, rashtra nirmaan” launched by Commissioner State Taxes Dr. Rashmi Singh, Wherein a number of outreach programmes were held in the far off areas of the District like Bani, Basholi, Billawar etc. Pertinently, Additional Commissioner (Adm & Enforcement) Jammu Ms Namrata Dogra as Divisional head is leading the campaign from Jammu Division.
