KATHUA, Dec 17: Ramping up action on illegal mining, District Mineral Officer Rajinder Singh condcuted operations at multiple locations in Sahar and Logate areas of district here today.
During early morning operation, 05 more vehicles were seized whileas two vehicles taking advantage of dark fled away after unloading the raw mineral besides beating the long chase of mining guards.
All the seized vehicles were taken to Bhagtali with the assistance of police officials and finally kept in the custody of incharge police Gaoshalla till realization of penalty from violators.
When contacted DMO informed that the seizures have been made under MMDR Act of 1957 and SRO-105 of 2016. He informed that 20 vehicles have already been seized from the same locations in last seven days.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey have already issued instructions for not sparing illegal miners and violators wherever they are found involved in illegal mining practices.
Pertinently, the action taken by DMO Kathua and his team against illegal mining especially during night hours has been widely appreciated by local people who have also encouraged the Mining deptt to initiate such type of more hard actions to put blanket ban on illegal mining in the district.
