OUTREACH AND TAXPAYERS AWARENESS PROGRAMME CUM INTERACTIVE SESSION

 Kathua :- In a drive of awareness programme ,the Income Tax officer Kathua  Sh. M.B Raizada conducted an outreach programme and tax payers awareness camp cum interactive  session  under the overall supervision of Pr. Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar Sh. M.P Singh and under the able guidance of Additional  Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-1 Jammu Smt.  Baljeet Kour at Midway Cafeteria, Dayalachak,  District Kathua to make people aware of the various provisions of the Act like mode of taking or accepting certain Loans and deposits in cash and its implications in view of section 269SS, 269T, threadbare discussion on AIS (Annual Information statement) prefilled data  in the return and data available on form 26AS, payment of timely advance tax and avoidance of payment of taxes made under self assessment taxes. Stress were also made in respect of the cases in which the assesses have claimed wrong/bogus deductions and claimed undue refunds and further sought suggestions, feedback opinions and aspirations of the people of town falling under the jurisdiction of Income Tax Office Kathua. The interaction program was organized to make the public aware about the various technological and other initiatives taken by the Department to increase transparency and ease of compliance and to provide better taxpayer’s services.

The outréach programme and interactive session was attended by representative of the traders, Vyapar Mandal, owner of the  Banquet Halls, accountant, Chartered accountants and members of Bar association  from three towns i.e from Dayalachak, Hiranagar and Chadwal areas.

Questions Answers session was also made in order to make people comfortable and queries raised by different persons were addressed  by Sh. Parvesh Khajuria, Income Tax Officer, Katra and apprised them of their duties and responsibilities towards the nation building. Sh. Sohan Lal accountant stressed upon the difficulty faced by the taxpayer in depositing the taxes in the bank in the area of Dayalachak, Chadwal and Hiranagar as the authorized branches lies only at kathua which are quite far away from the above mentioned towns. He has been assured to take cognizance of the difficulty and put forth to the appropriate authority. Sh. Raj Sharma, president Industries Hiranagar favour the department by stating that there are certain non filers whose income are taxable and awareness programme like this may be conducted vigorously so as to bring them into the tax net. Ex MLC Sh. Subhash Gupta and BDC Chairman Sh. Vijay Tragotra appreciated the efforts made by the department through this awareness programme.

 The addresses were followed by open house interaction wherein the audience were invited to raise any issue relating to income tax. The response from the audience were overwhelming and query raised were duly addressed by the officers of the department presented over there.
