Sociological Communiqué: A Sociology Newsletter with
the theme Har GharTiranaga released at GLDM GDC Hiranagar
Department of Sociology GLDM GDC Hiranagar launched a
monthly newsletter with the name “The Sociological Communiqué” on the eve of
the Independence Day. The theme of the issue for the month of August was Har
Ghar Tiranaga. The newsletter is started under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav @75 and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. The campaign of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ was
considered for the theme of the month since the campaign itself is an
initiative to encourage people to bring the National Flag i.e. Tiranga to home
and to hoist it to mark the completion of 75th year of India’sindependence. The
campaign is again important in he context as it marks the enterance of the
nation into the last quarter of the centenary clebration of India’s
Independence. The newsletter on the one hand showcased the
different activities of the Department of Sociology and published articles and
book reviews on the themes and sub-themes like
India’s freedom struggle, The National Anthem, The National Song, The National
Emblem, The Constitution of India and
other sub-themes relevant to the context of freedom struggle. The short
articles and book reviews were contributed by the students of the college. The
theme of the National Flag was given due importance in order to spread awarness
and also to connect people with the flag on personal basis and also for the
personification of our commitment to the progress and development of the nation
through the process of nation-building initiatives. The sociological updates from local to
global, the scope of the subject and innovation and incubation havealso been presentedin this newsletter.
The newsletter was released by Dr.
Pragya Khanna,the Principal of the College in the presence of Prof. Shujat Khan
IQAC Coordinator and other staff members and students of the college. The
Principal in her message expressed the delight on the release of
the monthly newsletter starting from the month of August 2022. She also said
that this newsletter will send a positive signal to the staff, students and to
all those who are interested in the discipline of Sociology. She also
appreciated the efforts of the department to connect, highlight, and enlighten
on the different activities through this initiative. A newsletter she said is
like a mirror which reflects a clear picture of all of the undergoing
activities and also aids in the development of writing skills among the
teachers and the students.The position of Editor and Managing Editor of the
Newsletter is occupied by Dr. Arun Kumar, Head Department of Sociology and Dr.
Ravinder Singh, Faculty Department of Sociology respectively.
