This
was the first show from the Guru-Shishya Parampara initiative by the Amar Mahal
Museum and Library [Hari Tara Charitable Trust], which was conducted at the studio
and residence of Shri Sohan Billawria in Basohli. The students were trained
right from pencil drawing to colour grinding, to landscape, flora and fauna,
and finally in the proportionate drawing of the human figure. A photographic
record of the students’ progress from March 2020 to October 2021 is also
displayed at the exhibition venue. All through this challenging time the guru
and students had been working with dedication and passion to fulfil a dream of
creating a hub for Pahari miniature painting in Basohli and Jammu. On the
occasion, Dr. Jyotsna Singh said that two new students have already started the
rigorous training this year and the Hari Tara Charitable Trust is making
all efforts to encourage the young artists to continue to learn and
improve their skills in order to revive this ancient heritage art form of Jammu
region. Also present at the exhibition was former MLC and Trustee of the Hari
Tara Charitable Trust, Vikramaditya Singh.
