POPPY STRAW LIKE CONTRABAND RECOVERED BY ANTI DRUG UNIT KATHUA

KATHUA : District Police while continuing its drive against illegal drug dealings, today recovered Poppy Straw like contraband in the JD of Police Station kathua from a vehicle.

A joint team of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and PS Kathua during naka checking duty at NHW Satkey Chak stopped a suspicious vehicle  bearing registration No.DL1GC-3650 for checking which was coming from jammu towards kathua.

On checking of aforesaid vehicle, six kilograms of poppy straw like contraband was recovered from the possesion of driver namely Varinder Singh S/o Surinder Singh R/o Sikri Tehsil and District Hoshiarpur Punjab along with his accomplice namely Darshan Singh S/O Gulab Singh R/O Mukerian District Hoshiarpur.Meanwhile accused were arrested and vehicle so involved was also seized by the police party on spot.

On this cognizance, a  case FIR No. 149/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS  Act stands registered at Kathua Police Station and further investigation is under process.

District Police consistent efforts against drug peddlers try to reassure the community members that we are making untiring efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
