Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua working under the ageis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Jammu and guidance of Dr. R.K. Arora Associate Director Extension and Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu organised awareness programme during World Breast Feeding Week 2018 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Kathua.
The programme was attended by more than 50 Anganwadi workers, helpers and farm women. At the outset, Dr. Amrish Vaid Chief Scientist and Head KVK-Kathua welcomed the participants and narrated the activities carried out by KVK during World Breast Feeding Week, 2018 with theme “Foundation of Life”. While welcoming Dr. Vaid also highlighted the activities of KVK with special emphasis on programmes related to women.
The objectives of world Breast feeding week 2018 were discussed in detail by Dr, Anamika Jamwal Scientist KV K-Kathua. Dr. Jamwal further informed that breast milk is the best food for the babies which provides not only the required nutrients and antibodies but also develops resistance in the baby’s body from infections. She said that breastfeeding helps in initial development of baby’s brain and helps to be successful in the other life activities. She explained that main objective of celebrating breast feeding week every year is to create awareness among women Dr. Anamika also discussed about the recipes for infant and young children feeding and complimentary feeding
During the programme resource person from ICDS Department also briefed the anganwadi workers about the advantages of breastfeeding of the infants up to the age of six months. The programme was also attended by Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat, Dr. Saurav Gupta & Dr. Vijay K. Sharma. (Kathua Update)
