JKCSCC calls for shutdown on August 27 against assault on Article-35A

The Jammu and Kashmir civil society coordination committee (JKCSCC) on Saturday called for a complete shutdown on August 27 against the attempts to abrogate special status of the state.

“Safeguarding Article-35A is a huge responsibility. Every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste and religion is ready to give up his life to defend the special status of Kashmir,” JKCSCC leader Mufti Nisar-ul-Islam said, while addressing a news conference here this afternoon.

Other members of the committee who were present in the presser included Jagmohan Raina, Advocate Mir Javid and Muzaffar Shah.

The committee urged people to observe a shutdown on August 27, the day pleas challenging Article-35 are listed for hearing in the Supreme Court. The JKCSCC also requested people to stage peaceful protests against the attempts to revoke the Article-35 A.
